Saint Exupéry Monument

In 1935, Saint-Exupéry and his navigator André Prévot collapsed in the Libyan desert while trying to break a document for fastest trip from Paris to Saigon (currently Ho Chi Minh City). This painful incident was one of the points that motivated the story in The Little Royal prince.

The statuary was unveiled in 2000, on the 100th anniversary of Saint-Exupéry’s birth. The Little Prince and Saint Exupéry are portrayed on a column of white marble. The column weighs seven lots and is greater than 16 feet high. 3 quotations from his works can be seen on the pedestal, and the last page of The Little Prince is portrayed on the stand.
