Volcanic Landscape & Montaña Roja

Just southern of the dunes, the imposing Montaña Roja impends large, a volcanic cone that offers scenic views of the entire park and across to the nearby island of Lobos. The wide-open, sun-drenched dunes offer little natural shade, so pack sunscreen, hats, and plenty of water. The sand can get very warm throughout the day, so it’s suggested to put on strong footwear when checking out the dunes. The all-natural park has no solutions like washrooms or food stalls, so strategy accordingly by bringing your own food and drinks for the day.

This all-natural park covers over 2,600 hectares and is home to the biggest sand dunes in the Canary Islands. These stunning dunes, developed by old marine down payments, go for miles along the coastline, producing a landscape similar to its across-the-ocean next-door neighbor, the Sahara. Site visitors to the park are welcomed by a relatively limitless stretch of beautiful, rolling dunes, using a feeling of solitude and the raw elegance of nature at its most untamed.
